WHAT FILAMER HAS DONE TO ME:
FCU College of nursing plays a significant role in shaping myself to become compassionate and skilled nurse. I’ve learned so many things that I had applied to my personal and professional life. The value of putting God as the center of my life, this is one of the core values of the institution that had shaped myself to become committed and compassionate nurse to my patient and colleagues.
Every course has its challenges and so thus in nursing. Student days was not easy, I was subjectived to a rigid training and discipline. Likewise, the college has molded me with a strong academic foundation in nursing theory and critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Theories learned from the classroom was strengthened in our exposure in the clinical training in various settings both in the hospitals and community that further helped me develop practical skills to practice nursing in any work setting.
I am so proud of my alma mater that has been an instrument for me to become useful in the any field of work as a nurse. I am forever grateful to FCU College of nursing.

I am a proud product of FCU-BSN - my alma mater which has played a pivotal role in shaping and preparing me for what lies ahead. I envisioned myself working as a nurse overseas. And I knew then that with the rigorous academic curriculum and hands-on clinical experiences I underwent which provided me with a solid foundation in nursing principles, ethics and practices, I was ready. Our clinical instructors, the whole faculty, had inculcated discipline, compassion and empathy in patient care. The morning devotionals allowed me to grow spiritually. Beyond academics, my alma mater paved the way to community engagements and granted me to experience it first-hand. This sparked a strong commitment to advocacy for vulnerable populations.
Equipped with all this, I was more than ready to be a Nightingale warrior with a heart. Little did I know that God will lead me to a completely different world - a corporate world, where I spent my whole professional life. This drastic change could have shattered me if not because of the training I received from my alma mater, which did not just prepare me academically but created in me a strong person ready to take on whatever life throws my way. With God, I stood and fought strong. I rose from the ranks and up to the present, in my executive role, continue to push my personal and professional advocacies. Thank you, my dear alma mater! Glory to God!

Nurse VII - Chief Nurse
Western Visayas Medical Center
Filamer Christian University-College of Nursing has been an essential foundation in my journey as both Chief Nurse at Western Visayas Medical Center and Dean at two universities. The Christian values embedded in my education—compassion, integrity, and servant leadership—have shaped my leadership style and continue to inspire my work.
As Chief Nurse, the solid clinical knowledge and ethical framework I gained from Filamer empower me to lead with both skill and heart. The university’s commitment to holistic care and moral responsibility guides me in fostering a compassionate and collaborative environment at Western Visayas Medical Center. I strive to ensure that every patient is treated with dignity, and I encourage our nursing team to approach every situation with empathy, professionalism, and excellence.
In my role as Dean at two universities, Filamer’s focus on academic rigor and servant leadership has influenced my approach to education. I work to cultivate spaces where students not only acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for their careers but also grow in character and responsibility. The values of service and integrity that Filamer instilled in me continue to inspire how I mentor students and faculty, helping them understand the importance of using their talents for the greater good.
I am deeply grateful for the transformative education Filamer Christian University -College of Nursing provided. Its impact continues to guide my leadership in healthcare, inspiring me to make a difference in the lives of others through service, excellence, and faith.

FCU has been a great part of my life. Who I am right now reflects the depth at which Filamer has shaped and molded me. Though my current achievements can’t be considered on par with others (with some of my peers and even my juniors), I’ll not be ashamed of sharing it and I still wanted to be a testament to how Filamer really touched my life.
I was born and raised in a Christian Family here in Roxas City Capiz. Early on during my formative years, I was ingrained by my parents with the values of a Christian Believer. When the time came for me to look for a school, I never hesitated to enroll at FCU. The reason I have at first for choosing this school was because it is the nearest from my residence and it being a Christian school that matches my beliefs was a bonus. As time went by, I learned a lot of things related to my profession and grew and develop more understanding about life and about GOD. I came to cherish FCU like a pillar that has propped me to stand firm in the stormy seas of our profession.
After I graduated, I took PNLE and got to the top 10 – all thanks first to GOD, my parents and Filamer. I never would’ve imagined how I did it at that time. I then got a job at Capiz Doctors’ hospital and started out as a staff nurse. It was never easy, there are a lot of struggles but thanks to the values instilled to me by my dear Alma Mater, I overcame it all. Also, thanks to GOD, I gradually advanced in the profession and right now I have the chance to impact the life of others after I was promoted to the Assistant Chief Nurse position here at Capiz Doctors’ hospital. I was also given the title of Head of the Training Unit/Training coordinator of Nurses. I think FCU BSN really prepared me for this. With this I was certain with one thing, FCU-CN’s education is indeed superb. Even roughly more than 12 years after I graduated, with what I could consider a gamble, I took NCLEX recently with very little preparation (only 2 weeks) but still armed with the knowledge and wisdom that my Cis back then ingrained in me and with GOD’s grace I passed.
Currently I am on my way to earning my Masters of Arts in Nursing degree and only needed to finish my thesis. FCU emphasized to us the importance of advancing ourselves in terms of education and that was the reason why I pursued higher learning.
Outside of my profession, I am active in our local church as a member of the worship team – a musician and at times does outreach and bible study sessions. FCU inculcated the importance of GOD in my life. It has already become my mission to introduce Christ to others.
With all of this, I would like to extend my sincere and deepest gratitude for Filamer and the FCU College of Nursing, as well as for my Cis for everything. What I am right now is indeed all thanks to them.

My journey as a nurse began at Filamer Christian University – College of Nursing, where I first discovered the true essence of nursing, not just as a profession, but as a calling. The strong foundation I received at the college, with its emphasis on both technical competence and compassionate care, shaped my career and inspired my passion for public health.
During my time at FCU, I was deeply influenced by its mission which is geared towards the preparation of creative, useful and Christian member of the society. I learned that nursing is not only about providing care but also about advocating for better health systems and policies. These values not only guided my interactions with patients but also sparked my interest in improving healthcare systems on a broader scale — through a lens of social responsibility and leadership.
Today, I am proud to work in the Department of Health, where I am involved in developing and improving the healthcare system to make it more accessible and efficient for all Filipinos. The advocacy lessons I learned at FCU continue to drive my work, as I focus on policies that promote better health outcomes and address health inequities.
To my fellow nurses, students and alumni, remember that the education and values we received at FCU empower us to be leaders, not just in hospitals, but also in communities and policy-making. Let’s continue to strive for excellence, advocate for the unserved and underserved, and honor the legacy of FCU in everything we do.
